Why is an Apostille Important?
According to the Ohio Secretary of State an Apostille, is a certificate that authenticates the origin of a PUBLIC document (e.g., a birth, marriage or death certificate, a judgment, an extract of a register or a notarial attestation). going to any country that is a part of the 1961Hague Convention. An apostilles' purpose is to prove authenticity of the signatures and seals of the documents being presented.

If the country (destination) is NOT a part of the Hague Convention, additional steps are required and a legalization process through the embassy would be required.
